即便現在利率相較過去時代顯得非常低，但存款夠久領到利息仍是天經地義的事情。然而有一位網友卻在Dcard發文，自稱媽媽曾在37年前在郵局存入505萬元，近日將存款提出辦理終止帳戶，卻沒有拿到任何利息，文章貼出後不僅引起網友熱烈討論，中華郵政也現身說法，打臉表示「不可能」。

原PO表示，媽媽前幾天到郵局辦事時，專員突然提醒她有一筆505萬元的存款一直沒有提領，而因為該筆存款在37年前就存入郵局，利息錢應該頗為可觀。卻沒想到原PO媽媽在提領後，只拿到一開始存入的505萬元，也沒有任何利息，原PO因此好奇詢問，「這樣的狀況是正常的嗎？」。

文章貼出後，不少網友都覺得非常離奇，也訝異505萬能夠放到忘記絕對不是一般人，紛紛留言：「可以認岳母或是乾媽嗎？」、「我存500在郵局都不會忘記，這是什麼富人的玩笑嗎」、「37年前當時可以買好多房子」。也有網友點出沒有利息的可能原因「超過100萬之後不計息，放100年也一樣」。

而該篇文章發布後，中華郵政也回覆文章內的狀況「不可能」發生，因定存專員會提供定存單，一年期就會提供一年利率，到期後也會通知帳戶所有者選擇是否續存，就算沒續存也會有一年利息。如果存款方式是活存，利息上限只計入100萬，即便過去幾年不好計算確切金額，但無論如何都不可能完全沒有。
